Industry Partnerships
Here’s to our WIL power!
At CTC, we’re committed to our students’ employability and are very proud of the fact that over 85% of our students are employed within six months of their graduation. We believe our Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities have a lot to do with that statistic.
WIL has gone from strength to strength: in 2018 alone we counted 656 WIL experiences!
We hosted a whopping 44 guest lectures from industry experts. Students, who were undoubtedly motivated by such talented figures, signed up en masse to participate in industry-led activities – and enterprises were only too happy to lend a helping hand. “We have over a hundred partners in the corporate world and they’ve always been very eager to provide WIL experiences to our students,” says Dr. Sarita Hardin-Ramanan, Head of Faculty in IT, Design and Communication.
155 students joined industry projects, from the production of corporate videos to integrated reporting projects, and 122 students participated in industry competitions and events such as the CFA Research Challenge, the Australian High Commission Design Competition and the Festival Ile Courts. 94 students were placed on internships, and 169 were involved in co-curricular Work-Integrated Learning activities such as final year projects and the Design Graduate Show, Nexus.
We’re also proud to share that 60 of our students engaged themselves in service-learning projects. Some of them crafted the concept, design and content of the Centre de Solidarité magazine, others worked on creating the Kontrol Nou Bidzé personal budget training programme.
“It’s really important that we impart ethical business practices to our students, and service-learning is fundamental to WIL,” explains Dr. Hardin-Ramanan. “Students build their ethics and values, and learn how important it is to include everyone in their aim to build a better tomorrow.”
