Our spacious and modern library offers comfortable, quiet study space to students, researchers and staff. It is not only permanently linked to Curtin University's world-class library but is well stocked with collections of prescribed and recommended books for all courses on offer at Charles Telfair Institute. A variety of academic journals and periodicals as well as various audiovisual collections, is also available.
Library Membership
Membership is available to all Charles Telfair Institute students, researchers and staff and by special permission, to other parties.
The following procedures must be followed to register as a library member:
- A completed application form, your National ID Card and a clearance certificate from the Accounts Department must be submitted to the issue desk
Library Membership will become available immediately after registration.
Rules and Regulations
- MEMBERS ONLY. Only library members are allowed to use the Library. To become a member, you need to complete the relevant membership application form.
- BORROWING BOOKS. Members must always produce their membership cards to borrow any library material.
- DEADLINES. All members must return or renew their library books on time. Overdue books carry a fine of Rs10.00 per day.
- RENEWAL. When renewing their books, members must always bring with them the books borrowed as well as their membership cards.
- CARE. Members are entirely responsible for books issued to them and must therefore look after them as if they are their own property. Any book lost or damaged must be replaced or the amount refunded. (In the case of sharing of prescribed books, please note that both partners will be held equally responsible).
- SILENCE. Silence must always prevail in the Library in order to facilitate learning. Cellular phones must always be switched off.
- PROHIBITIONS. Please note that socializing, eating or drinking is strictly prohibited in the Library.
- GROUP WORK. Group work is not allowed in the Library. Please use the Auditorium or any other convenient place.
- SECURITY. Members must please note that the Library is equipped with a sophisticated electronic security system which includes close-circuit television. We will not hesitate to expel any students (and report the case to the Police) caught attempting to steal or damage any of the books, materials, etc.

Self-operating photocopy machines are available in the library and cards can be purchased from the Issue Desk.
Scanning
Scanning facilities are free of charge for all library members.
