Prof. Raj Lutchmeah
Professor Raj Lutchmeah is Director for Strategic Development and Head of Faculty of Management.
Professor Lutchmeah obtained his BSc (Hons) in Biology at the University of Portsmouth, MSc in Technology of Crop Protection (with Distinction) at the University of Reading and PhD in Biotechnological Plant Pathology at the University of Sheffield. He has over 30 years of experience in teaching and research, and managing, planning, developing, regulating and ensuring quality at the postsecondary education and training level. He has held the posts of Postdoctoral Research Fellow and several academic positions at the University of Sheffield, UK and at the University of Mauritius, and was founder Acting Director-General of the University of Technology, Mauritius. He held successively the posts of Head of Strategic Initiatives Division, Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director at the Tertiary Education Commission of Mauritius.
He has also undertaken several international consultancies in higher education funded, amongst others, by UNESCO, European Union, World Bank and the UK Department for International Development.
Professor Lutchmeah has published/written over 100 research papers and scientific conference papers, and documents and reports on post-secondary education and training.
He is married and has a daughter.
