Prof. Ian van Heerden


Prof. Ian van Heerden, Head of Faculty (Accounting & Finance)Ian Van Heerden is the Head of Faculty of Accounting and Finance of the Charles Telfair Institute in Moka. He holds a doctorate in Business Administration and post graduate qualifications in Accounting, Management Accounting and Taxation. He is also a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Born in South Africa, Ian has occupied various positions in both industry and academia. During the past 30 years, he has held various positions such as consultant to private tertiary institutions, head of department accountancy and senior academic in a public tertiary institution, financial manager, internal auditor, public accounting practice branch audit manager and articled clerk.

He also served as a representative consultant on the Future of Accounting Education in South Africa project. This 4-year project resulted in the restructuring of the Accounting profession, education and training in South Africa.
