'O-Week' is here again!
12-15 July 2011

On a bi-annual basis, CTI's First-year students are invited to three days of activities which are meant to help them get to know one another and familiarize themselves with the campus before the start of their lectures.

Students arriving for registration

From 12 to 15 July, Curtin's O-Week began with the registration of students under the newly built kiosks in the garden, followed by a breakfast at the canteen. The weather was particularly welcoming to our students and so was the group of lecturers and CTI volunteers.

After the Executive Director's animated introduction on the history and values of CTI, matters got a bit more serious when the Director of Academic Affairs introduced students to teaching and learning services and lecturers followed with an introduction on their own specialties. The afternoon ended with ice-breaking exercises, full of noise and laughter in the auditorium.

The major highlight of Day Two was with no doubt the distribution of laptops to all the Curtin students. Yes, indeed - every student enrolling with Curtin is entitled to a laptop.

On Day Three, the students were taught new learning methods through group assignments which they had to conclude with a formal presentation.

The final day of Orientation was crowned by the distribution of the academic time tables. Now serious matters are really starting...
