Alumni Evening Mauritius Chapter 25 September 2009

On 25 September 2009, the Charles Telfair Institute, in collaboration with its Australian academic partner, the Curtin University, broke new grounds with the launch of its first alumni association.

Over 150 Curtin graduates, a representative from Curtin University, CTI own academicians and staff members, and more importantly, Curtin graduates from its various international campuses including Australia, Singapore and Malaysia, gathered at the Mauritius Gymkhana Club, Vacoas, for an evening that would inaugurate the Curtin University Alumni Mauritius Chapter.

Welcoming those present, Professor Werner Soontiens, Dean of Curtin Business School International, presented the 2010 Vision of Curtin University and outlined the implications of founding an alumni association in Mauritius. The benefits that the Mauritian chapter would derive include access to alumni website and publications, as well as opportunities for global networking and exchange of international best practices.

A local Alumni executive committee was formed which will henceforth be responsible for all future activities and liaise directly with its Australian counterpart.
