Closing Down a Workshop in Style 12 March 2011

It was one of these joyous occasions mixed with a tinge of sadness. For the last time, the participants on the Winner's Reaching New Heights Programme 2010 met and said goodbye as we closed the programme.

A human pyramid celebrating the RNH's success

Launched in March 2010, Reaching New Heights is yet another customized Management Development Programme, this time for the Winner's chain of supermarkets, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the IBL Group.

Hard on the heels of our Lead to Inspire programme customized for the Mauritius Commercial Bank and run the year before, Reaching New Heights was designed exclusively for the Winner's chain of supermarkets and targeted its supermarket managers and assistant supermarket managers.

On this occasion, Managers and their Assistants met on the 12 March at Domaine de Lagrave, a place well-known for its array of recreational activities from mountain biking to kayaking. One of the Domaine's corners had been converted to accommodate the event and being Independence Day, was appropriately draped with Mauritian flags. The organizing committee had done things in style and with an eye on details. Marquees, tables, chairs, porcelain plates, wine glasses and even an electric guitar strummer had been provided - you would be forgiven if you were to mistake it for a five-star hotel organizing a barbecue for some wealthy tourists.

We are dumb and we are blind

"We have reached the end of our formal programme," commented Jean-Philippe Venpin, General Manager at the end of the day's events, "and I wish to congratulate you all for the time, energy and dedication you have put into it. You have learnt a lot and the time now is for us to ensure that we implement it all. And I wish to congratulate CTI too for their contents and delivery."

As Winner's plans to embark next on a special Action Learning project to ensure the implementation of the principles taught, participants and CTI are likely to meet again in a not too distant future.
