Effective Business Writing 12-13 September 2008

Effective Business Writing

Friday 12th and Saturday 13th September were no ordinary days at Charles Telfair Institute. The reception was buzzing with the presence of twenty three delegates, having excellent verbal skills, who came to improve their writing skills. Course facilitators, Professor Serge Rivière and Mrs. Touria Prayag, were there to make it all happen.

Divided in two groups to make practice easier and beneficial, the enthusiastic delegates set out to learn about writing (or perfecting) emails, letters, memos, minutes and reports. They also learnt about email protocol and its dangers and how to communicate effectively, promote collegiality and avoid conflict.

The end of the two-day workshop did not mean the end of the training, as the delegates had several tasks to take home and work on in the workplace and return to the course facilitators. This follow-up will allow the participants to have a data base of correctly- written documents relevant to their day-to-day tasks to draw from.
