PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

The main objective of the Certificate III in Design Fundamentals is to provide a solid foundation in generic design techniques and practices for those who want to embrace a career in any one of the specialised fields of art and design. The course, which is both practical and theory-based, prepares candidates for higher-level creative diplomas and degrees or for entry level jobs in the graphic design, multimedia, advertising, fashion, and jewellery design industry.

Students will learn how to generate creative ideas, evaluate design solutions, communicate effectively using appropriate terminology and visual techniques. They will experience a variety of creative tasks through research, experimentation and observation in their chosen area of interest.



ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Entry Requirements
School Certificate (SC) or GCE O level with passes (D grade or higher) in at least four subjects including English plus the presentation of a portfolio which will be assessed by Central TAFE. See attached sheet for portfolio preparation information.

Alternative Entry: Work Experience and Recognition of Prior Learning
Applicants are assessed on an individual basis and are required to produce a portfolio of skills evidence.
