Academic affairs
The Director of Academic Affairs (DAA), Mrs. Odylle Charoux, together with the other members of Academic Council, is responsible for providing leadership for all academic matters at the institute.
The main responsibilities of the Director of Academic Affairs are as follows:
- Develop an annual academic teaching and learning plan consistent with the mission and strategic plans of the Institute and the needs of all our stakeholders.
- Support the Faculty Heads in Identification of new Academic or training programmes and in the Planning, Administration and Evaluation of all new and existing Academic programmes.
- Ensure that Academic Standards are maintained and continuously improved by initiating, encouraging and supporting campus activities and innovations which focus on improving teaching and learning.
- Ensure that the requirements of the Tertiary Education Commission and Mauritius Qualifications Authority are met.
- Work collaboratively with the Academic Registrar to prepare academic calendars and schedule of classes for each academic semester consistent with enrolment needs and program requirements.
- Administer operations and staffing needs associated with delivery of academic programmes, teaching and learning support systems.
- Supervise librarians in administering library programs and in the timely acquisition of required learning material for all academic and continuing education programmes.
- Monitor the work of academic affairs committees such as the Academic Integrity Committee, the Staff Development Unit.
- Provide leadership and collaborate with the Faculty Heads to ensure the provision of a comprehensive campus program for student development that integrates experiences within and outside the curriculum.
- Investigate student academic concerns and address student questions related to academic matters.
